Le verbe “venir”

The verb “venir” (to come)  is an irregular verb belonging to the 3rd conjugation group. That is, it does not follow the regular conjugation of 2nd group verbs like “finir“. 

VENIR
je viens
tu viens
il/elle/on vient
nous venons
vous venez
ils/elles viennent

Stem is : for singular persons : vien– ; for “nous”, vous” : ven– ; for 3rd person of plural : vienn– (with reduplication of the consonant “n”, like with verb “prendre“, “ils prennent”).
Engings are : –s, –s, –t, –ons, –ez, –ent.

Other verbs conjugated like “venir” are :

  • devenir : to become
  • revenir :  to come back
  • se souvenir : to remember
