Les adjectifs possessifs

Possessive adjectives are used to express ownership (possession). They agree in number and gender with the noun they introduce.

  • J’aime mon père (masc. sing.), ma mère (fém. sing.) et mes amis (plur.).

I love my father, my mother and my friends.

  • Tu aimes ton père, ta mère et tes amis.

You love your father, your mother etc.

  • Il aime son père, sa mère et ses amis.

He loves his father, his mother etc.

  • Elle aime son père, sa mère et ses amis.

She loves her father etc.

  • Nous aimons notre père, notre mère et nos amis.

We love our father etc.

  • Vous aimez votre père, votre mère et vos amis.

You love your father etc.

  • Ils/elles aiment leur père, leur mère et leurs amis.

They love their father etc.

!!! With feminine nouns starting with a vowel or a mute “h”

…”ma“, “ta“, “sa” become “mon” “ton” “son“.
